Kauai Family Photoshoot Locations
A wide sandy beach with green mountains behind it. Summer water is usually calm, and winter swells can be large, so I'll help you pick a date and time that works.
A long crescent bay with Hanalei Pier and mountains behind it. I’m based in Hanalei and can help you understand how light moves across the bay through the year.
Golden cliffs and open ocean on the sunnier South Shore. It's also a safe alternative during winter months when North Shore weather turns.

To begin the process, please fill out the form on my family contact page or email me at ikaika.pidot@gmail.com. Please include your tentative session date, the number of people in your group (and the ages of any kids), the location or setting you have in mind, and a little info about your family.

Upon receiving an inquiry from you, I will send over a price sheet detailing process and package information. If none of these packages are quite what you are looking for, I’d be happy to build a custom package based on your needs.

Once a standard or customized package has been chosen, I will send instructions on putting down a deposit to reserve your session date, as well as a contract for my services.

I have found it valuable to get to know my clients a little bit before the session, so via Zoom, phone, or in person, I’d like to chat with you about your vision for your family photos, as well as other needs or preferences you may have, like how your kids do with new people and what time of day works best. If you prefer to have a consultation or a quick intro call anytime before this, I’d be happy to do so as well.

I recommend reaching out as soon as your travel dates are set. Holiday weeks and summer are popular times for families visiting Kauai, so booking a few weeks to a few months ahead gives you the most choice of dates and times. If your trip is coming up soon, send me your dates through my family contact page and I’ll let you know what’s available.

I deliver a link to all of your hand-edited images within 15 business days of your session. A one-hour session includes 35+ edited images, and a two-hour session includes 70+. You’ll be able to view, download and share your gallery with the whole family, and you receive full personal printing rights.

Most family sessions are scheduled in the last hour or two before sunset, when the light is soft and golden and the beaches are cooler and less crowded. That’s easier on little ones, too. During your consultation I’ll help you pick the best time and location based on your date, the season and the weather.

I photograph families all over Kauai. Popular choices are Ha’ena Beach and Hanalei Bay on the North Shore and Shipwrecks Beach in Poipu on the South Shore, plus gardens, waterfalls and quiet local beaches. Tell me about your group, your vacation rental area and your must-have photo, and I’ll recommend a location that works for your family.

Rain showers are common on the Garden Isle and often lead to gorgeous light and rainbows. I keep a close eye on island weather and can shift your session to a different time or to a drier part of the island, such as the sunnier South Shore. If the weather doesn’t cooperate at all, we can reschedule to another day that works for your trip.

Yes. I photograph families of every size, from a couple with a newborn to multigenerational groups and family reunions. My approach is relaxed and playful, with candid moments and simple prompts like walking, laughing and swinging the kids, rather than forced posing. I’m patient with little ones, and big groups are always welcome, so just tell me who will be in the photos when you inquire.

Collaboration:
I want to make sure you receive the photos you want, taken in the way you want them to. If you are someone who wants direction, I will happily guide you through poses and movements. If you prefer to not pose, I will position myself throughout the session to capture candid, authentic moments. My goal is to prepare myself as much as I can before the session without causing you any unnecessary stress or extra work.
