A Sunset Proposal and Boat Portraits on Hanalei Bay
This proposal was a surprise for a couple on their first trip to Kauai, and I loved helping with the planning so everything could go smoothly. It happened on the sand at Hanalei Bay: one knee down, hands to her face, glassy water and golden light all around them. Those first few seconds are exactly what I hope to capture at every proposal.
From there we headed out onto the bay in a small white boat for portraits of the newly engaged couple. The boat gave us a setting you don’t see every day, with the Hanalei Pier and the North Shore mountains in the distance, soft reflections on the water, and the sun sinking behind them as they held hands and laughed together. We finished with a few more portraits back on the shoreline, with the ring front and center.
