Photographing an elopement at 1 Hotel and Hā’ena

1 Hotel Hanalei Bay sits on the bluffs of Princeville, and its tropical gardens made a lush, private setting for portraits. Palms, ferns and bright flowers fill the frame, and the North Shore mountains are never far from view.

The ceremony took place at Hā’ena, where the beach, the mountains and the ocean come together at the end of the road on Kauai’s North Shore. With just the two of them, we could move slowly, take our time with the ceremony, and make the most of the golden light as the sun dropped toward the water.
