Photographing a small waterfall wedding at McBryde Gardens

McBryde Garden sits in a lush valley on Kauai’s South Shore, and its waterfall makes a dramatic backdrop that few wedding venues can match. This wedding was just four people, which kept the day quiet, personal and unhurried.

We started with portraits beside the waterfall, then wandered the garden paths through palms, ferns and tall trees. With such a small group there was no rush, so the couple could take their time while the light and the jungle did the rest. The white flowers and gown stood out beautifully against the dark volcanic rock.
