Photographing an elopement at Kalihiwai Waterfall
Kalihiwai Waterfall sits in a lush valley on Kauai’s North Shore, a short drive from Kilauea. A pool at the base of the falls, thick jungle greenery and bright red anthuriums give an elopement here a completely different look from the island’s beaches.
This was a private elopement with no guests, so there was no schedule to keep. We held the ceremony beside the waterfall, then spent time on portraits in the garden and along the water’s edge. The jungle canopy keeps the light soft and even, and the dark pool gives beautiful reflections of the couple and the falls.
