Photographing a Tunnels Beach elopement

Tunnels Beach, on Kauai’s North Shore in Haena, is known for its wide sandy shoreline and the green mountain ridges that rise behind it. For this elopement, the couple exchanged vows here with no guests, which left plenty of time to relax, walk the sand and focus entirely on each other without a schedule to keep.

As the sun lowered, the light turned warm and soft across the water and mountains. We kept the session unhurried, moving between quiet portraits, close embraces and playful moments in the shallows so the photos feel natural rather than posed. Evening light like this is one of the best reasons to plan a North Shore elopement around sunset.
