Photographing a waterfall wedding with a beach finish

This wedding began with a ceremony at Kalihiwai waterfall, where 12 guests gathered among ferns, jungle foliage and bright red anthurium. Kalihiwai is on Kauai’s North Shore, and the waterfall makes a dramatic, private backdrop with lush greens that look incredible in photos.

After the ceremony we headed to Puʻu Poa Beach in front of 1 Hotel Hanalei Bay for portraits along the sand and black lava rocks, with the bay and mountains behind. This is a great pairing for a wedding, because in one session you get a big range of photos, from the waterfall and jungle to the ocean.
